Wason Ranch has continued work on a major trout habitat restoration and reconstruction project on our four miles of Rio Grande River. Additional trout habitat was created on another 3/4 mile of river. Additionally, we revegetated and planted trees on the first two miles of the project that was complete in 2003. We have increased the trout holding and breeding habitat many times through placement of thousands of boulders, deepening channels, narrowing banks, and the construction of many structures. The banks have been reseeded and revegetated. The appearance of the river is beautiful and will become more so with the coming of spring and growth of the new plant material. Our biologist assures us that the fishing will be incredible this spring and mature into some of North America's finest fly fishing water. Please make plans to join us this year for what will not long remain a well-kept secret. Fishing regulations are as follows:
Please understand that these rules are solely to improve your fishing experience at Wason. They are admittedly designed to protect the experienced, serious angler and the quality of our fish population. Fly fishing lessons and guided trips are available through a local fly-shop. Please ask the ranch manager for details. We look forward to having you as our guest at Wason this year. Good luck on the river. Return to Home PageReturn to Activities |
