Wason Ranch was founded by Major M. V. B. Wason around 1871, almost midway between Del Norte and Silverton, and before there was a town of Creede. The original Ranch House, constructed of white-washed adobe and materials found on the Ranch remains an area landmark. Four miles of the upper Rio Grande, only thirty miles downstream from its source, flow through the pastures of Wason Ranch.

Wason Ranch has two types of accommodations:

• The Riverside Log Cottages are log homes literally on the banks of the Rio Grande. Each cottage has three bedrooms and two baths and is decorated in an individual manner and has satellite television.
  
  
• Built by Major Wason before there was a town of Creede, the historic two-story Ranch House retains much of its original character giving guests the feel of turn of the century while providing many comfortable features. See the Rate page for details.
